Carnahan aggressor in second Mo. senate debate

October 15, 2010

Candidates in the Missouri senate race have had a busy week with two debates in the same number of days. The second of the two debates was held this morning (Oct. 15).

Democrat Robin Carnahan was the clear aggressor in the debate as she attacked Republican Roy Blunt’s record on earmarks and the 2008 economic bailout. Blunt defended his record and attacked $107 million going to Carnahan’s brother’s wind farm.

Two other candidates in the race also participated in the debate.  Libertarian Jonathan Dine criticized both Carnahan and Blunt for coming from big spending political parties  while Constitution party candidate Jerry Beck said that America will collapse unless manufacturing jobs return from overseas. Beck also said that illegal immigration must be stopped.

The debate took place at the Lodge of Four Seasons at the Lake of the Ozarks. We’ll have a full report from the debate from statehouse reporter Marshall Griffin later today.
